This position offers the opportunity to work on complex litigation in state and federal courts, particularly in support of public entities involved in large infrastructure projects, including transportation agencies, counties, and cities. The role is open in the firm’s San Diego, Los Angeles, or Oakland offices.

Responsibilities

  • Represent public entities and other clients in eminent domain, real estate, and land acquisition litigation matters.

  • Handle high-impact litigation related to public infrastructure projects.

  • Draft pleadings, briefs, and dispositive motions.

  • Engage in substantive law and motion practice.

  • Build cases for trial, including developing evidence and litigation strategy.

  • Interview witnesses and take and defend depositions.

  • Conduct thorough legal research and prepare well-reasoned written work.

  • Collaborate closely with colleagues in a team-oriented litigation environment.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

  • Active California Bar admission in good standing.

  • 3–7 years of litigation experience.

  • Required experience in eminent domain, real estate, or public entity land acquisition litigation.

  • Substantive experience with law and motion practice, including dispositive motions.

  • Prior experience preparing cases for trial, including evidence development and deposition practice.

  • Excellent academic credentials.

  • Strong analytical, creative thinking, research, and writing skills.

  • Proven ability to work effectively in teams and contribute to firm culture.

  • Strong work ethic and interest in elevating the firm’s reputation and brand.
