An international AmLaw 50 global firm is seeking a talented Associate Attorney to join its highly regarded National Security Practice Group in Washington, DC. This is a compelling opportunity to work alongside a multidisciplinary team advising on complex and rapidly evolving regulatory, compliance, investigatory, and enforcement matters at the intersection of national security, international trade, and government oversight. The group is known for its deep bench of experienced practitioners and its sophisticated, cross-disciplinary approach to high-stakes matters.
Candidate Profile
- JD from a top-tier law school with an excellent academic record.
- Coursework in IP, technology, and/or commercial law is required.
- Active Bar Admission in Washington, D.C., in good standing.
- 2–6 years of substantive experience in national security, international trade, sanctions, or related regulatory matters

Experience at a leading law firm or relevant government agency strongly preferred

Familiarity with regulatory frameworks involving agencies such as DOJ, Treasury, Commerce, State, or Defense is a plus

Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills

Demonstrated leadership ability, sound judgment, and a strong work ethic

Commitment to delivering exceptional client service in a fast-paced environment
- Soft Skills: Excellent research, writing, analysis, and communication skills are essential, alongside a strong business acumen and meticulous attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise clients on national security-related regulatory and compliance matters, including sanctions, export controls, and foreign investment reviews
- Support internal investigations and enforcement matters involving government agencies
- Monitor and interpret evolving regulatory requirements and advise clients on risk mitigation strategies
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address overlapping legal and policy issues
- Assist in developing compliance programs and conducting due diligence reviews

Compensation & Benefits

Competitive Salary: $235,000 – $420,000, commensurate with experience and class year.
