Control Systems Engineer
About the Role
We are seeking a talented Control Systems Engineer to join our growing engineering team. In this role, you will design and develop control systems for complex industrial equipment across a variety of customer applications. You will work closely with cross-functional teams — including engineering, project management, and end-users — to deliver high-performance automation solutions on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop control architectures for industrial automation equipment
- Translate customer and application requirements into complete control system designs
- Lead engineering efforts across multiple concurrent projects, serving as both technical contributor and project lead as needed
- Develop Bills of Material (BOMs) and support procurement of control system components
- Author automation programs spanning PLC, HMI, and robotic platforms
- Collaborate with mechanical designers, drafters, and technicians throughout the build cycle
- Engage directly with end-users during design reviews, commissioning, and acceptance testing
- Uphold quality and continuous improvement standards in all engineering activities
- Apply Lean and Industry 4.0 principles to streamline design and build processes
Required Skills & Technical Expertise
- Proficiency in industrial electrical systems design and applicable codes and standards
- Hands-on experience with PLC and motion control platforms, including ladder logic and structured text programming
- HMI development and human factors design
- Robot programming and system integration
- Vision system configuration and integration
- Pneumatic circuit design and implementation
- Control panel hardware design, layout, and specification
- High-level programming languages (e.g., C#, Visual Basic, or equivalent)
- IT/OT network architecture and industrial communication protocols
- SQL-based manufacturing data systems and historian platforms
- CAD tools for electrical schematic design (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, or equivalent)
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related technical field
- 5+ years of hands-on controls engineering experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment preferred
