JOB TITLE: DESIGN ENGINEER, PLASTICSDEPARTMENT: ENGINEERINGREPORTS TO: DESIGN MANAGERTYPE: Full-time, exemptGENERAL DESCRIPTION: This position will be an active member of the development teamleading design and feasibility efforts of plastic injection molded components. Qualifiedcandidates will be expected to perform all aspects of the design process including designengineering, 3D modeling, manufacturing feasibility, drawing creation, reverse engineering,cost calculation, and project management. Candidate must be highly motivated and ready toovercome engineering challenges driven by the demands of performance off-road components.RESPONSIBILITIES: Collaborate with the product designers to develop part strategy, breakup and retentionthat supports the aesthetics, component and assembly tolerances while being costeffective. Work from studio’s A-surfaces to create thickened, manufacturable parts that meetfunctional and appearance requirements. Has extensive knowledge of fasteners and clips used with injection molded componentsand make suggestions based on the application and criteria. Proficient with injection molding design best practices for all types of materials: diedraw, draft analysis, structural ribbing, doghouses, sink prevention, warping andthermal properties. Strong background of tolerancing at both a component and assembly level to controlgap and flush conditions. Must have a strong understanding of injection mold tool making and processing(core/cavity, lifters, slides, parting lines, ejection systems, cooling lines) and be able tocommunicate with suppliers to resolve feasibility concerns. Plastic part development ranges from class-A fascias to structural brackets Understands mold flow analysis and FEA and its effect on part design. Interact with suppliers to develop cost information for RFQ packages and evaluatequotes to aid in cost reduction initiatives. Designs new products and makes improvements to existing products . Works with other members of the product development team to ensure thatprojects are completed in a timely manner. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Expert CAD modeler with solid-modeling software (Solidworks). Automotive parts manufacturing work experience.
 Experience with dimensioning parts and creating detailed release drawings. Experience with functional GD&T applications. Sound knowledge of various manufacturing processes (plastic or metal) is a plus. Experience with Teamcenter and Vis MockUp is a plus. General knowledge of manufacturing, and inspection processes and gauge design. Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with others. Highly organized with strong attention to detail. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering or similar Engineering discipline or workequivalent. Work experience may be substituted based on manager’s discretion. Experience designing injection mold tooling is a plus.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Sitting: 6-8 hours at a time Standing: 1-2 hours at a time, there will be days standing could be 8 hours Walking: 30 minutes to an hour Lifting: 25 lbs. occasionally Carrying: 25 lbs. occasionallyTRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
