Director of Construction – Southern California

ParkerBeth Search Partners is seeking an experienced Director of Construction for a well-established Southern California painting and reconstruction contractor serving HOA, commercial, and multifamily properties.

This is a senior operations leadership role for someone who knows how to run a production organization—not just manage individual projects. The Director of Construction will lead day-to-day performance of the production department, drive project execution, and coordinate scheduling, forecasting, billing, quality, safety, and client-facing priorities.

The company is looking for an operator who can create consistency, enforce accountability, improve financial discipline, and keep multiple projects moving without losing sight of client expectations or field realities.

What You’ll Own

  • Lead weekly Production and Project Manager meetings
  • Maintain accountability for scope, schedule, budget, safety, and quality
  • Conduct regular site visits and verify jobsite standards
  • Lead weekly Production and Project Manager meetings
  • Resolve escalated project issues quickly and decisively
  • Drive schedule adherence and production planning
  • Ensure labor, materials, equipment, and sequencing stay aligned
  • Strengthen change-order documentation and margin protection
  • Review project forecasting, billing, invoice issues, and AR
  • Partner with Finance and Production on project financial performance
  • Attend client, HOA board, kickoff, progress, and site meetings
  • Protect client satisfaction, quality, and warranty performance
  • Continuously improve operating systems and production discipline

What We’re Looking For

 
  • 10+ years of construction operations or project management experience
  • Experience managing at least $10M in annual production
  • Proven ability to lead teams, enforce accountability, and resolve conflict
  • Strong understanding of construction scheduling and production planning
  • Strong financial fluency with budgets, forecasts, billing, gross profit, and AR
  • HOA or reconstruction experience strongly preferred
  • Strong client-facing communication and problem-solving ability
  • OSHA 30 or equivalent required
  • Bilingual English/Spanish required
  • Experience with Sage, CRM systems, Excel, or similar project-tracking tools preferred

Location & Travel

This position is based in Southern California and requires regular travel to active jobsites throughout the region. The role includes both office and field responsibilities and may require attendance at after-hours HOA board or client meetings.

 

Compensation

  • Base Salary: $110,000-$130,000
  • Starting Total Compensation: approximately $180,000 including bonus
  • Performance-based bonus tied to company EBITDA and production gross profit
