Maintenance Operations Supervisor for operations within a heavy industrial manufacturing environment in Rushville, IN. This position plays a key role in supervising maintenance personnel, coordinating preventative maintenance programs, and supporting the continued performance of plant equipment and facilities.
What You’ll Do as Maintenance Operations Supervisor
As the Maintenance Operations Supervisor, you will provide leadership and technical guidance to maintenance supervisors and skilled trades professionals while ensuring all facility equipment operates safely and efficiently.
Your work will directly support plant uptime, equipment reliability, and a safe working environment for the entire production team.
Maintenance Operations Supervisor Duties Include
- Leading and supervising a team of 6 maintenance supervisors and 30+ skilled trades personnel including mechanical, electrical, and oiler tradesmen
- Ensuring compliance with all safety, health, and environmental regulations across maintenance operations
- Executing preventative and corrective maintenance programs for plant equipment and facility systems
- Conducting regular inspections of buildings, grounds, and equipment to identify maintenance needs and potential safety hazards
- Creating daily, weekly, and weekend maintenance schedules and coordinating work with operations and contractors
- Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities and reporting equipment or project status to senior management
- Supporting maintenance budget planning and ensuring cost-effective repairs and contractor utilization
- Reading and interpreting mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic schematics to ensure repairs meet equipment standards
- Supporting Root Cause Analysis investigations and continuous improvement initiatives
- Managing staffing coverage across all shifts and approving vacation and overtime scheduling
- Maintaining strong working relationships with union representatives and adhering to collective bargaining agreements
- Communicating equipment downtime and maintenance issues to leadership when equipment outages exceed one hour
- Identifying opportunities to improve maintenance processes and plant safety procedures
What We’re Looking For in a Maintenance Operations Supervisor
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate degree in maintenance, engineering, or related field preferred
- 3–5 years of experience as a maintenance or engineering supervisor within a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems and repair processes
- Ability to read and interpret technical schematics and equipment drawings
- Experience leading large maintenance teams and coordinating skilled trades personnel
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams in high-pressure production environments
- Excellent communication, organization, and planning skills
- Experience working in union environments is a plus
