Cerner Revenue Cycle Management Optimization Consultant

We are seeking an experienced Cerner Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) Optimization Consultant to lead the identification, analysis, and resolution of ongoing billing and collections challenges across the revenue cycle. This role focuses on optimizing both Cerner RCM technology/build and operational workflows to improve financial performance, efficiency, and compliance.

The ideal candidate brings hands-on Cerner RCM experience, deep operational revenue cycle expertise, and a proven ability to translate operational needs into effective system and process improvements.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lead end-to-end assessments of revenue cycle performance, identifying root causes of billing, coding, charging, claims, denial, and collections issues.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in Cerner RCM workflows, configuration, and functionality.
  • Develop and execute optimization strategies that align people, process, and technology.
  • Partner with revenue cycle leadership to prioritize initiatives that improve cash flow, reduce AR days, and lower denial rates.
  • Analyze existing Cerner RCM build and workflows to identify gaps, inefficiencies, or misalignment with operational best practices.
  • Recommend and implement system configuration changes, enhancements, or workflow redesigns.
  • Collaborate with IT, analysts, and vendors to ensure technology solutions support operational goals.
  • Support testing, validation, and stabilization of optimized Cerner RCM solutions.
  • Operational Workflow Improvement
  • Use revenue cycle metrics, dashboards, and reports to track performance and measure the impact of optimization efforts.

Key Requirements: 

  • Hands-on experience with Cerner Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) solutions.
  • Strong operational revenue cycle expertise, including billing, claims management, denials, AR follow-up, and collections.
  • Proven experience leading RCM optimization or remediation initiatives, not just implementations.
  • Ability to translate operational challenges into system and workflow solutions.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams (Revenue Cycle, IT, Finance, Compliance).
