About the role

As a Field Service Technician, you will play a key role in installing, servicing, and supporting complex industrial equipment at customer sites across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. This position is centered on hands-on field work, including equipment assembly, mechanical build-up, troubleshooting, maintenance, and customer support for machines that range from smaller service interventions to larger, labor-intensive installations. You will work with systems that require mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic understanding, and you will help ensure machines are installed correctly, brought to proper operating condition, and supported throughout their lifecycle.

Working closely with field service leadership, the broader management team, and internal technical resources, you will represent the company directly on customer sites while operating with a high level of independence. This role is travel-intensive and suited for someone who genuinely enjoys being on the road, working physically, and solving problems in real-world production environments. While Tampa is preferred, remote-based candidates can also be considered, and success in the role depends on strong self-management, reliability, and a willingness to spend extended periods away from home on assignments that may range from shorter service work to multi-week installations.

What you will be doing

  • Perform on-site installation, assembly, service, and maintenance of industrial machinery, including labor-intensive builds where machine sections, rollers, brackets, tables, and related components must be assembled and aligned at the customer facility.
  • Support a range of field activities such as preventive maintenance visits, electrical upgrades, smaller installs, and more complex multi-week installations, depending on project scope and customer needs.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and basic electrical issues in the field, working across equipment involving PLC-controlled systems, HMI interfaces, pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Travel extensively to customer locations throughout North America, with assignments that commonly last 10 to 14 days and, in some cases, extend to 4 to 5 weeks.
  • Work customer-site schedules that typically include 10-hour days Monday through Friday and 6 hours on Saturday, while remaining flexible when projects require longer hours.
  • Handle field travel administration through internal processes, including booking your own travel, managing expenses, and submitting reimbursements in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Communicate professionally with customers on site, helping maintain confidence during installs, repairs, inspections, and follow-up service activities.
  • Partner with internal managers and teammates to provide updates from the field, escalate issues when needed, and support successful project completion.
  • Contribute to high-quality service delivery by staying focused, organized, and productive while working independently in demanding customer environments.

What we are looking for
  • A technician who is genuinely comfortable with a high-travel lifestyle and understands what it means to spend significant time on the road throughout the year.
  • Someone who takes pride in hands-on, physical work and is comfortable with a role where a large portion of the job involves lifting, assembling, kneeling, working on the floor, and staying active on site.
  • A dependable, self-directed professional who can work well without constant supervision and stay organized while operating remotely from the office.
  • A practical problem-solver with a well-rounded technical mindset, able to adapt across different machine types and field situations rather than relying on one narrow equipment background.
  • A candidate with strong work ethic and professionalism, not someone who is disengaged, distracted, or unwilling to fully commit on customer sites.
  • A person who values team fit and company dynamics, and who can contribute positively to a collaborative culture even while spending much of their time in the field.
  • A technician who can set clear expectations, communicate openly, and follow through consistently, helping build trust internally and with customers.
What you will need

  • Experience in field service, installation, maintenance, or repair of industrial machinery or similarly technical equipment.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical systems, with familiarity in areas such as pneumatics, hydraulics, and equipment assembly/alignment.
  • Electrical troubleshooting capability and general familiarity with PLCs and HMIs; Siemens-specific experience is not required.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including frequent lifting and extended time standing, kneeling, bending, and working directly on machinery.
  • Willingness and ability to travel at a very high level, including extended trips with assignments that may run straight through without weekend trips home.
  • Availability to support customer-site schedules that regularly exceed a standard 40-hour week, with overtime driven by project requirements.
  • Valid passport and ability to travel internationally within North America, including Canada and Mexico.
  • Valid driver's license and readiness to travel by air and ground transportation as required.
  • Ability to manage administrative responsibilities tied to field work, including expense submission and travel-related coordination.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with customers, managers, and internal teams during service events and installations.
  • Comfort with either being based near Tampa or working remotely from another U.S. location, provided you can operate effectively in a field-based role.
