Director of Sales – North American Operations
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Director of Sales to lead and grow a North American sales organization within a specialized industrial manufacturing environment.
This is a hands-on, consultative sales leadership position for a seasoned commercial professional who understands complex industrial markets and can translate customer challenges into customized technical solutions.
The successful candidate will combine strategic thinking with a strong business-development orientation, spending time with customers, developing key accounts, identifying new opportunities, mentoring the sales team, and ensuring consistent commercial execution.
The Director of Sales will work closely with other members of the leadership team and collaborate across sales, operations, finance, marketing, estimating, and product development.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive North American sales strategy to achieve revenue, profitability, and growth objectives.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a geographically dispersed sales organization across the United States and Canada, establishing clear performance expectations and accountability.
- Manage and support an in-house estimating team, ensuring effective coordination between sales, estimating, operations, and customers.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key accounts, decision-makers, engineering teams, and other stakeholders within target industries.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities across mining, steel, cement, bulk-material processing, and related heavy industrial markets.
- Take a consultative approach to understanding customer applications, operational challenges, and technical requirements, positioning customized solutions accordingly.
- Expand market presence through strategic business development, customer visits, industry networking, and targeted prospecting.
- Lead participation in industry trade shows, conferences, and other marketing and business-development activities.
- Work closely with Marketing to develop market strategies, customer communications, trade show initiatives, and sales-support materials.
- Utilize CRM and ERP systems to manage opportunities, customer activity, forecasting, estimating, and sales performance.
- Monitor sales KPIs, pipeline activity, forecasts, margins, and territory performance to identify opportunities and improve execution.
- Collaborate with Operations, Finance, Product Development, and other internal teams to ensure customer needs are effectively translated into solutions.
- Provide market intelligence and customer feedback to support product development and overall business strategy.
- Establish a culture of quality, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the sales organization.
- Serve as a senior commercial representative with customers, industry partners, and other external stakeholders.
Ideal Profile
We are seeking a seasoned consultative sales professional and people leader with a demonstrated track record of growing business in industrial markets.
The ideal candidate will bring:
- Significant sales and business-development experience within mining, steel, cement, bulk-material handling/processing, or another closely related heavy industrial market.
- Proven success developing new business, expanding existing accounts, and managing strategic/key customer relationships.
- Experience leading and mentoring a geographically dispersed sales organization.
- A strong understanding of complex, technical, or engineered-to-order industrial products and solutions.
- A consultative selling approach, with the ability to understand customer applications and develop solutions around their specific operational needs.
- Experience working with CRM and ERP systems, sales forecasting, pipeline management, and performance metrics.
- Experience with trade shows, industry events, and sales/marketing initiatives.
- Strong commercial judgment and the ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on execution.
- An entrepreneurial mindset with the initiative to identify opportunities and take ownership of results.
- Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.

Additional Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
- Experience selling engineered or customized industrial solutions strongly preferred.
- Experience with international customers or organizations is a plus.
- Spanish or French language skills are a plus.
- Willingness to travel extensively throughout the United States and Canada.
