We are seeking a skilled and motivated Electrical Controls Engineer to join our clients team. This role involves researching, designing, and developing devices and components for process controls. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge and experience in the selection of Pressure, Temperature, Level, and Flow Meters, along with other instruments used in process control.
Key Responsibilities:
- Specify discrete, analog, and networked control solutions.
- Prepare specifications and design-bid documentation.
- Review supplier designs against licensor, code, and customer requirements.
- Assist in designing and modifying new and existing process control and instrumentation systems.
- Develop instrumentation standards for compliance across multiple facilities.
- Recommend additional equipment as necessary.
- Participate in reviewing Management of Changes, PHA Action Requests, and more.
- Assist with permitting applications at local, state, and federal levels.
- Support I&C construction activities and rectify deficiencies according to standards.
- Conduct I&C testing, loop checking, and support plant commissioning and start-up.
- Collaborate with EPC and equipment suppliers.
- Travel to other locations as required (approximately 10%).
Qualifications:
- AS or BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Automation Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role.
- 5+ years of PLC programming and configuration experience in a process environment using Rockwell Software, Siemens, and Codesys-based equipment.
- 5+ years of experience in setting up, testing, and commissioning instrumentation in construction and process environments.
- Experience in control system design to the component level.
- Experience in configuring and testing communications using gateway devices for data exchange with industrial protocols like Modbus, Profinet/Profibus, and Foundation Fieldbus.
- Previous training in process and plant engineering is desirable.
- In-depth knowledge of the National Electric Code, focusing on Article 500.
- Understanding of Functional Safety (IEC 61508/61511 & SIL levels).
- Experience with Management of Change systems and hands-on troubleshooting.
