Position Summary
The Flavor Samples Technician supports the development and delivery of innovative flavor solutions by preparing, organizing, and managing flavor samples for internal teams and customers. This role requires strong attention to detail, an interest in flavor science, and the ability to work efficiently in a lab setting. The ideal candidate is highly organized, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and takes pride in producing accurate, consistent work that supports R&D and product development efforts.
Essential Job Functions

Prepare flavor samples using established formulas, procedures, and specifications while ensuring accuracy and consistency

Organize and maintain inventory of raw materials and flavor libraries, including tracking usage and requesting replenishment as needed

Document sample preparation steps, outcomes, and any necessary adjustments to ensure proper traceability and recordkeeping

Collaborate with R&D Scientists, Flavorists, and cross-functional partners to support projects by supplying samples for evaluation and testing

Perform sensory checks and basic quality evaluations to confirm samples meet internal standards and specifications

Operate, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment used in sample preparation; support calibration activities as required

Follow all safety, regulatory, and lab compliance guidelines to maintain a safe and clean work environment

Assist with new product development activities, including testing and evaluating flavor formulations when needed

Prioritize daily tasks to meet deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and quality

Support scale-up activities related to flavor manufacturing and production readiness

Enter sample data into internal systems, including Sage X3 and Product Vision (training provided as needed)

Report any food safety concerns to appropriate personnel with authority to initiate corrective actions

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or a related field

Basic knowledge of flavor chemistry and sensory evaluation concepts

Strong attention to detail and ability to follow exact protocols

Excellent organizational and time management skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); willingness to learn new software applications

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications

Internship or coursework related to flavor technology or food product development

Familiarity with laboratory equipment and standard analytical methods

Interest in food, flavor innovation, and consumer product development

Experience entering formulas or sample data into Product Vision (preferred)

Exposure to sensory evaluation methods and basic data/statistical analysis
Physical Demands / Work Environment

Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and move throughout lab and facility areas; occasional bending and lifting

Ability to lift up to 40 pounds

Ability to work with allergens, including dairy and food colorings

Work occurs in an office/laboratory environment with typical lighting and equipment

Daily visits to production areas with exposure to odors, fumes, noise, and allergens

Required PPE in production areas may include non-slip steel-toed shoes, hairnets/facial hair nets, and lab coats/uniforms/coveralls

Estimated Salary Range: $47,840 – $49,920 annually (based on $23–$24/hour at 40 hours/week). This position is Non-Exempt and eligible for overtime pay in accordance with applicable labor laws. Salary ranges (if listed) may vary based on skills, experience, certifications, and geographic location.
