Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Scheduler to support a major infrastructure program in Sacramento, California. This hybrid role is responsible for reviewing and analyzing contractor schedules, supporting schedule development and maintenance, performing what-if scenario analysis, and preparing weekly and monthly schedule reporting. This position works within the Project Controls Office and supports program-level scheduling efforts for complex capital construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze contractor schedules for accuracy, sequencing, progress, and overall schedule health.

  • Support oversight of schedule management activities for a major infrastructure program.

  • Develop, update, and maintain detailed project and program schedules.

  • Perform what-if schedule analysis and scenario planning.

  • Align schedule activities with design plans, construction elements, and project milestones.

  • Establish activity durations and document the basis for schedule assumptions and logic.

  • Update schedule data and durations as design and project information evolves.

  • Prepare weekly and monthly reporting on schedule performance, progress, and risks.

  • Track progress updates, duration changes, and supporting backup for schedule revisions.

  • Identify schedule risks, constraints, and issues that may impact project delivery, including utility relocations, environmental restrictions, seasonal limitations, and procurement activities.

  • Compare current in-progress schedules with future planned construction schedules to evaluate reasonableness and consistency.

  • Identify critical path and longest path activities.

  • Recommend actions to improve schedule reliability and overall project performance.

  • Provide schedule analysis, reporting, and related project controls support as directed by program leadership.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 8+ years of relevant scheduling and project controls experience.

  • Experience developing and managing detailed construction schedules for large capital or infrastructure projects.

  • Strong knowledge of project and program schedule development and schedule management.

  • Ability to develop schedules from preliminary and/or conceptual plans.

  • Ability to identify and document schedule assumptions, risks, and activity logic clearly.

  • Experience with transportation, rail, roadway, or other major infrastructure projects.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple deliverables.

  • Proficiency in Primavera P6, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting major transportation or rail infrastructure programs.

  • Experience developing detailed construction schedules from early design documents.

  • Knowledge of structures, construction means and methods, staging, procurement, and multidisciplinary coordination.

  • Experience with rail systems, tunnels, bridges, retaining walls, and related transportation infrastructure.

Work Location

This is a hybrid position based in Sacramento, California. Candidates should be able to work in the Sacramento area and attend in-office meetings as needed.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $150,000 to $220,000 annually. Actual compensation offered will depend on factors such as experience, qualifications, skills, geographic location, and internal equity considerations.
