A leading affordable housing owner/operator is seeking a Vice President of Compliance to lead a multi-functional compliance organization supporting a large and evolving affordable housing portfolio.
 
This is a highly visible leadership opportunity for a hands-on compliance professional who combines deep regulatory expertise with strong people leadership. The Director will oversee teams responsible for compliance operations, internal audits, training, and new development/rehabilitation compliance while partnering closely with property operations, asset management, and executive leadership.
 
The organization is investing heavily in process improvement, technology, and AI-enabled compliance solutions, creating a unique opportunity to help shape the future of compliance operations while building scalable systems, accountability measures, and team development programs.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop a team responsible for affordable housing compliance, internal audits, training, and regulatory oversight.
  • Establish KPIs, performance metrics, and accountability frameworks across the compliance function.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, workflow optimization, and technology adoption.
  • Partner with operations teams to ensure consistent regulatory compliance across the portfolio.
  • Oversee compliance reviews, audits, certifications, reporting, and regulatory monitoring activities.
  • Evaluate existing processes, identify training gaps, and implement corrective action plans.
  • Support compliance strategy for new construction, rehabilitation, and stabilized assets.
 
Ideal Background
  • Significant affordable housing compliance leadership experience.
  • Deep knowledge of LIHTC, HUD, Section 8, HOME, and related affordable housing programs.
  • Experience managing and developing compliance professionals and multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated success building accountability, implementing KPIs, and improving operational performance.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience with compliance technology platforms and process modernization initiatives.
