Overview
An independent meat processing facility in north-central Ohio is adding an operator to its harvest floor team. The operation processes beef, pork, lamb, and goat across a five-day schedule and is run by a tight-knit group that takes the work seriously. The facility is actively investing in its harvest operations, with new equipment and a consolidation project currently underway.
This is physical, skilled work in a fast-moving environment. Pay reflects the demands of the role and tops out at $30/hour for experienced candidates who can hit the ground running.
What the Job Involves
· Perform all phases of the harvest process including stunning, bleeding, skinning, eviscerating, splitting, and trimming
· Handle livestock humanely and in accordance with all animal welfare requirements
· Trim, wash, and weigh carcasses to meet quality and compliance standards
· Maintain knife sharpness and keep harvest floor equipment in proper working condition throughout the shift
· Keep workstations, walls, equipment, and the harvest floor clean and sanitized at all times
· Follow all HACCP protocols and food safety requirements without exception
· Support barn duties including weighing, feeding, and watering livestock as skills develop
· Assist with general sanitation and end-of-shift cleanup procedures
What They Need
· 1+ years of harvest floor, slaughter, or meat processing experience preferred
· Motivated candidates without direct harvest experience will be considered if they demonstrate a genuine willingness to learn
· Physically capable of sustained standing, heavy lifting, and working in hot, cold, and damp conditions throughout a full shift
· Knife skills or a clear interest in developing them on the job
· Agricultural or livestock handling background is a plus
· Familiarity with beef primal and subprimal cuts is a plus
· Dependable, safety-focused, and able to work as part of a close-knit production team
· Able to read, write, and communicate in English
