Automobile Premises Liability Defense Attorney
RESPONSIBILITIES
Civil Litigation & Case Management:

Manage Automobile and Premises Liability defense cases from inception through resolution.

Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, responses, and other legal documents.
-
Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda to support litigation strategies.
-
Prepare for and attend depositions, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
-
Draft, file, and argue dispositive motions.
-
Take and defend fact witness and expert depositions independently.
-
Prepare comprehensive written status reports for insurance carriers.
-
Ensure compliance with all court deadlines, procedural requirements, and case schedules.
-
Maintain accurate case files, litigation records, and supporting documentation.
Client Relations & Litigation Support:
-
Communicate regularly with clients and insurance carriers regarding case developments and provide interim status reports.
-
Collaborate with clients, expert witnesses, co-counsel, and colleagues to develop effective litigation strategies.
-
Work closely with partners and senior attorneys to ensure successful case management.
-
Respond to discovery requests and manage all aspects of the discovery process.
-
Represent clients in state court proceedings and alternative dispute resolution proceedings.
-
Deliver exceptional client service while maintaining the highest ethical and professional standards.
Administrative & Operational Support:

Maintain organized case documentation and electronic records.
-
Utilize legal research platforms, case management systems, and Microsoft Office applications effectively.
-
Support firm initiatives, special projects, and departmental objectives as needed.

Prioritize multiple assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced litigation environment.

Participate in ongoing professional development and continuing legal education opportunities.
Additional Responsibilities:

Maintain strict confidentiality of client, firm, and personnel information.

Collaborate effectively with attorneys, paralegals, support staff, and external partners.

Demonstrate strong advocacy, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Perform additional duties and assignments as required to support business needs.
QUALIFICATIONS

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school required.

Admission to the New York State Bar required.

Minimum of four (4) years of experience handling the defense of Automobile and Premises Liability matters in New York.

Strong experience managing civil litigation cases from inception through resolution.

Experience drafting, filing, and arguing dispositive motions.
-
Ability to conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis.
-
Experience responding to discovery requests and managing all phases of discovery.
-
Experience independently taking and defending fact witness and expert depositions.
-
Prior ADR experience handling arbitrations and mediations.
-
Experience preparing comprehensive written status reports for insurance carriers.
-
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
