Licensed Driller
Licensed Well Driller (New Jersey)
About the Opportunity
A well established environmental services company in South Jersey is hiring two Licensed Well Drillers for its drilling division, the busiest part of the business. The company has more drilling booked than it has drillers, including a four plus month project already on the calendar and a brand new auger rig on the yard. The owner still runs rigs himself and knows exactly what the job takes. These are direct hire, long term seats with a company that treats its field crews as the core of the operation, not an afterthought.
What You Will Do
• Operate hollow stem auger, direct push and Geoprobe rigs on environmental and geotechnical sites across New Jersey, eastern Pennsylvania and Delaware.
• Install, develop and abandon monitoring wells to NJDEP standards.
• Collect soil, rock and groundwater samples; log SPT blow counts and record and report daily drilling data.
• Run a safe site: daily rig inspections, utility clearance, traffic control, PPE, and a clean work area.
• Maintain the rig, tooling and support truck in good working condition and report needed repairs early.
• Lead and train a driller helper, and run the job with minimal supervision.
• Coordinate with project managers, geologists and clients to keep jobs on schedule.
What We Are Looking For
• Current New Jersey well driller license issued by NJDEP. Journeyman, Master and Monitoring Well classes are all considered.
• Two or more years operating environmental or geotechnical drill rigs. Hollow stem auger and direct push are the core; mud rotary, rock coring, ATV and track mounted rig experience are a plus.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. CDL Class A strongly preferred.
• OSHA 40 hour HAZWOPER preferred.
• Delaware well driller license is a plus and earns a pay premium.
• Able to work outdoors in all weather and terrain, and pass a pre employment drug screen and background check.
• Reliable, safety minded, and comfortable being the lead on a two person crew.
• Assistant drillers who hold a New Jersey license and can run a rig with light supervision will be considered.
What the Company Offers
• Home most nights. Occasional overnight only when a job calls for it.
• Hourly pay that flexes with your license and experience, plus overtime. Senior drillers have cleared six figures with overtime.
• Health insurance and a 401k plan.
• New equipment, a well run yard, and a full schedule of work.
• Steady, year round employment with more work booked than the crew can cover.
• A pay premium for a Delaware well driller license.
Schedule and Location
Full time, Monday through Friday, first shift with overtime available. Crews dispatch from the company yard in South Jersey and work sites within a day’s drive, mostly in New Jersey, the Philadelphia suburbs and Delaware. Work is outdoors in all seasons.
