Position Summary
The Commercial Real Estate Paralegal will support attorneys throughout all phases of complex commercial real estate transactions, from contract negotiation and due diligence through closing and post-closing matters.
The ideal candidate will have substantial experience with shopping centers and retail triple-net (NNN) properties, including transactions involving restaurants, drugstores, bank buildings, and similar commercial properties.
This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position, with flexibility to work overtime as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Support attorneys in all aspects of commercial real estate transactions, from contracts and loan commitments through closing and post-closing.
- Conduct and assist with commercial real estate due diligence, including:
- Title and survey review
- Title objection letters
- Lease reviews
- Municipal lien searches
- UCC, judgment, litigation, and lien searches
- Prepare organizational documents and assist with entity formation.
- Prepare and maintain closing checklists and critical-date timelines.
- Assist with preparation and review of title commitments, title policies, closing statements, affidavits, entity authorizations, and customary closing documentation.
- Prepare and maintain closing binders.
- Provide additional transaction support as needed for both local and national commercial real estate matters.
Ideal Candidate
- Experienced Professional: Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Commercial Real Estate Paralegal, with significant experience handling transactions involving shopping centers and retail triple-net properties, such as restaurants, drugstores, and bank buildings.
- Corporate Law Knowledge: Experience with corporate law and entity-related matters.
- Detail-Oriented: Exceptional attention to detail with a strong commitment to accuracy and organization.
- Problem-Solver: Able to proactively identify issues, develop solutions, and work independently with sound judgment.
- Effective Communicator: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with attorneys, clients, colleagues, and outside parties.
- Tech-Savvy: Proficient in Windows-based systems and Microsoft Office applications.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and Paralegal Certificate preferred.
- Equivalent education and relevant professional experience will be considered.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant commercial real estate paralegal experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of commercial real estate transactions, title and survey matters, due diligence, and closing procedures.
