Manufacturing Supervisor
The Manufacturing Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily floor operations within a steel tube manufacturing facility. This role ensures safe, efficient, and high-quality production while meeting throughput targets, maintaining equipment performance, and leading a team of operators and technicians. The supervisor acts as the primary link between production staff and plant management, driving continuous improvement and operational discipline.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
· Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or related field preferred
· 3–7 years of experience in manufacturing, preferably in steel, metals, or tube/pipe production
· Prior supervisory or leadership experience required
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Knowledge of tube mill operations, welding processes (ERW preferred), and metal forming
· Familiarity with production planning, process control, and industrial equipment
· Ability to read technical drawings and specifications
· Experience with ERP/MES systems and basic computer applications
· Strong leadership and team management capabilities
· Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
· Effective communication across all levels of the organization
· Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Partner closely with the Safety Manager to achieve plant safety goals and continuously improve safety performance
· Promote and enforce a strong safety culture in accordance with OSHA and company standards
· Lead daily safety engagement activities (toolbox talks, pre-shift briefings, hazard identification)
· Ensure strict adherence to PPE requirements, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and safe work procedures
· Reinforce accountability for safety across all team members
· Ensure products meet customer specifications and internal quality standards
· Collaborate with QA/QC teams to address defects and implement root cause analysis
· Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce scrap and rework
· Supervise and coordinate daily manufacturing activities
· Ensure production schedules are met while maintaining quality and safety standards
· Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as OEE
· Troubleshoot production issues and implement corrective actions in real time
· Effectively deploy available labor, equipment, and materials to meet production objectives
· Adjust resource allocation in response to changing production conditions, downtime events, or bottlenecks
· Identify gaps in resources and escalate needs to management
· Provide ongoing training, mentorship, and performance feedback
· Conduct performance evaluations and support skill development and cross-training initiatives
· Enforce company policies, procedures, and work standards
· Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement
· Coordinate with maintenance teams to minimize downtime and optimize equipment performance
· Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs
· Identify equipment issues and escalate as needed
· Identify inefficiencies and recommend process enhancements
· Participate in kaizen events and operational excellence initiatives
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
· Industrial manufacturing setting with exposure to heat, noise, and heavy machinery. Requires standing, walking, and occasional lifting (up to ~50 lbs).
