Status: Non‑Exempt, Hourly Location: Rhinelander Headquarters + Nearby Support Facility Reports to: Site Manager / Facilities Lead
Summary
The Custodial & Maintenance Technician plays an important role in keeping our facilities clean, safe, and running smoothly. This position combines daily custodial work with basic facility maintenance, groundskeeping, and seasonal support. It’s a great fit for someone who enjoys hands‑on work, takes pride in a well‑maintained environment, and likes variety in their day.
Key Responsibilities
🧹 Custodial & Sanitation

Clean and sanitize restrooms daily; perform deeper weekly cleaning.

Sweep, mop, and maintain walkways, corridors, stairwells, entrances, and common areas.

Vacuum carpeted areas and clean breakrooms, conference rooms, and office spaces.

Empty trash and recycling throughout the building, including shop and shipping/receiving areas.

Disinfect high‑touch surfaces daily.

Clean microwaves, sinks, drinking fountains, locker rooms, and other shared fixtures.

Wash interior windows and door sills; clean interior light fixtures as needed.
🔧 Facility & Preventative Maintenance

Monitor and replace lighting; report electrical issues when needed.

Perform small repairs and touch‑up painting.

Replace HVAC/furnace filters and support basic preventative maintenance tasks.

Check shop air systems (compressor oil, filters, bearings) on a routine schedule.

Assist with wash bay cleaning and general facility upkeep.
🌱 Groundskeeping & Seasonal Support

Clear snow from entrance and service doors to maintain safe access.

Mow lawns, weed, and maintain exterior grounds; perform basic lawn‑equipment upkeep.

Support seasonal cleanup and occasional lot dragging with equipment.

Provide basic grounds support at an off‑site storage facility.
🛡️ Safety & General Support

Complete monthly safety walks and fire extinguisher inspections.

Monitor exit lights and report issues.

Assist with parts runs, errands, and event or training setups.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required

1–3 years of custodial, facilities, or maintenance experience preferred

Familiarity with cleaning equipment, chemicals, and safe work practices

Comfort using hand tools and basic maintenance equipment
Preferred Experience

Industrial or shop‑environment maintenance

Snow removal and groundskeeping

Basic preventative maintenance routines

Forklift/loader experience (or willingness to train)
Additional Requirements

Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record

Ability to work safely around shop equipment and chemicals
-
Ability to lift, bend, kneel, climb stairs, and perform physical tasks indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures
Work Environment & Schedule
This role works across office areas, shop/service spaces, breakrooms, locker rooms, and outdoor grounds. Conditions may include noise, dust, cleaning chemicals, and seasonal weather.
Schedule: Full‑time, Monday–Thursday, 10‑hour shifts. Occasional flexibility may be needed for weather events or facility priorities.
Travel: No travel outside the local area. Occasional trips between the main facility and the nearby support site.
