Job Title: Materials Lead (Forklift / Inventory)
Location: Fort Worth, TX
Job Type: Full-Time
Shift: 6am-2:30pm
Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Materials Lead to support operations in a fast-paced fabrication environment. This role is responsible for moving materials, managing inventory, and ensuring accuracy in all inventory transactions. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and committed to maintaining high productivity and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts and industrial equipment to move materials and products
- Receive, store, and organize raw materials, components, and work-in-progress (WIP)
- Maintain accurate inventory transactions and bin locations (goal: 95% accuracy)
- Ensure jobs are properly kitted and ready for production
- Support weld kitting efforts and maintain production readiness (2 days ahead target)
- Perform cycle counts and assist with year-end inventory
- Communicate material shortages, discrepancies, and production needs with internal teams
- Participate in root cause analysis (8D) and continuous improvement initiatives
- Support and lead 6S/Kaizen activities to maintain an organized workspace
- Develop and follow standard practices to improve inventory control and efficiency
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of forklift experience
- At least 1 year of shipping and receiving experience
- Inventory control experience required
- Previous leadership experience overseeing 10–20 employees preferred
- Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic math
- Basic computer skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Commitment to safety and proper use of PPE
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 100 lbs
- Stand for extended periods
- Frequent bending, kneeling, and stooping
- Ability to work in a fabrication shop environment (noise, dust, odors, chemicals)
