Leading tier I automotive supplier is launching new programs and investing in their plant.  They are seeking a Sr. Machining Engineer to be a machining area expert for an assigned area of the plant.  Daily you will be responsible for problem solving, analyzing and optimizing machining cutting technologies.  Responsibilities will include:
 
  • Optimize the assigned machining area and be the area machining expert on troubleshooting and programming 
  • Manage capital equipment projects, including completing cost justifications and managing timelines and budgets
  • Lead, coach and mentor engineers and production associates 
  • Manage vendor and supplier relationships
  • Communicate with customers during site visits 
  • Support production lines while increasing efficiencies and decreasing scrap 
  • Complete projects related to root cause analysis and troubleshooting downtime
  • Utilize 2D and 3D modeling to improve line layouts and design fixtures and gauges
  • Assist with new model activities, documentation and project management
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and basic electrical issues
  • Complete required reports and monitor business metrics and KPIs
  • Communicate with operations and production associates to improve throughput  
  • Other duties as directed by engineering management
 
This is a hands-on position that requires qualified candidates to be on the manufacturing floor up to 50% of their day troubleshooting equipment, including mechanical and basic electrical issues. You will be on the manufacturing floor daily communicating with the production staff and working with your team to continuously improve operations and meet production goals. This site offers the opportunity to work with cutting edge equipment and robotics. Candidates should enjoy working in a team environment, coaching and mentoring other engineers, communicating with hourly staff to enhance production and being creative in the continuous improvement process. Minimum of an Associate’s degree with at least eight years of lead process engineering experience OR a Bachelor’s degree with at least five years of lead process engineering experience2. Experience working in machining environments with advanced working knowledge of machining processes 
3. Experience with complex programming of CNC machining centers
4. Experience implementing process improvements (scrap reductions, increase efficiencies, etc.)
5. Capital equipment project management, including cost justifications and managing timelines and budgets 
6. Mechanical troubleshooting skills7. AutoCAD and/or 3D modeling for plant layout and/or fixture design8. Willing to travel internationally when needed 9. Microsoft OfficeSkills preferred but NOT required:1. Automotive supplier work experience2. Experience with horizontal machining centers 3. Electrical troubleshooting
4. Robotics and/or PLC experience 
5. Mechanical hobbies and/or farming experience
