Senior POP / Structural Designer + Facility Lead

Position Summary

This role is ideal for a highly skilled, hands‑on ArtiosCAD designer ready for a step up in responsibility without moving into full‑scale management.

You will spend the majority of your time designing and developing innovative corrugated POP displays, packaging structures, and prototypes while also ensuring the office runs smoothly, handling facility needs, equipment oversight, and occasional landlord coordination.

Key Responsibilities

1. Structural & POP Design (Primary Focus — ~70–80%)

  • Create and develop corrugated POP displays, retail-ready packaging, and structural solutions using ArtiosCAD, Artios 3D, and Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Produce accurate dielines, 3D renderings, and production-ready specifications.
  • Build prototypes and samples using the Kongsberg cutting table.
  • Coordinate and prepare samples for ISTA testing; interpret results and adjust designs accordingly.
  • Optimize designs for manufacturing, cost, assembly efficiency, and transit durability.
  • Partner closely with Sales and Production to ensure deliverables align with client expectations and plant capabilities.

2. Light Team Leadership

  • Provide day‑to‑day mentorship and design support to a mid‑level designer and/or recent graduate.
  • Delegate small tasks or portioned project work where appropriate.
  • Review and approve dielines, sample layouts, and spec sheets as necessary.
  • Help train junior designers on CAD standards, file hygiene, prototyping practices, and manufacturing constraints.
  • Serve as the team’s senior‑level resource for complex structural challenges.

3. Facility / Office Lead Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary on‑site point of contact for facility‑related issues.
  • Coordinate with the landlord, building maintenance, etc. for anything related to:
    • HVAC, lighting, and general maintenance
    • Unexpected facility issues
    • Cleaning services, supplies, deliveries
  • Maintain office organization, small equipment oversight, supply inventories (e.g., cutting table consumables, corrugated sheets for prototyping).
  • Ensure safety, cleanliness, and functional workspace conditions.

4. Project & Workflow Coordination

  • Help schedule design workload, manage priorities, and maintain timelines.
  • Communicate project status with Sales, CSR, Production, and clients as needed.
  • Maintain accurate project files, revision history, and documentation (ISTAs, specs, drawings, samples).

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Industrial Design, or equivalent experience.
  • 5–10 years of hands-on experience in corrugated POP display or structural packaging design.
  • High proficiency with ArtiosCAD / Artios 3D and Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop.
  • Working knowledge of corrugated materials, manufacturing processes, and printing methods.
  • Comfortable operating a Kongsberg table and creating prototypes.
  • Familiarity with ISTA test procedures and transit performance considerations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to guide junior team members.
  • Organized, reliable, and comfortable being the “go‑to” person for onsite, day‑to‑day needs.

Preferred

  • Experience in a converter or POP production environment.
  • Exposure to sustainability practices in packaging.
  • Experience coordinating maintenance or facility needs (not required—only helpful).

Personality & Style Fit

  • Enjoys being a hands-on maker more than sitting in meetings.
  • Comfortable taking ownership of the space and solving small problems independently.
  • Likes mentoring but isn’t looking to be a heavy manager.
  • Thrives in a smaller, entrepreneurial, flexible environment.

Why This Role Exists

This is the perfect position for a highly experienced structural designer who wants to step into a senior role with light leadership responsibilities without losing their hands-on creative and technical work. It is located at a satellite office that needs both a senior designer and a reliable on‑site leader.
