PackStaff is supporting a mid‑sized food manufacturer as they expand their packaging R&D team. They are hiring a Packaging Engineer II to take ownership of primary packaging development across a diverse bakery and frozen foods portfolio.

This role sits on a small, experienced packaging team and carries real responsibility. The engineer in this position will lead projects, make technical decisions, and work closely with internal stakeholders and major retail customers.

This is not an entry‑level role.

The role

• Lead primary packaging development for consumer and bulk food products
• Work across materials including thermoforms, rigid plastics, trays, pails, pie tins, paperboard, and shrink film
• Support packaging for both retail‑ready and transport / bulk formats
• Partner with R&D, Operations, Procurement, and Sales
• Own specifications, trials, supplier collaboration, and scale‑up activities
• Contribute to sustainability and packaging improvement initiatives
• Act as the technical owner for assigned programs, not a support resource

What they’re looking for

• ~5 years of packaging engineering experience
• Consumer packaged goods background preferred (food experience helpful but not required)
• Experience working across multiple packaging materials and formats
• Comfortable operating independently in a small team environment
• Willing to be hybrid in Atlanta (3 days/week in office; relocation supported if needed)
