The Position: The Materials Supervisor’s main function is to manage the materials team supporting shipping & receiving activities ensuring adequate materials are received and stored supporting fabrication, weld and production operations. Additionally, the Warehouse Supervisor will lead and facilitate ship-out activities regarding HDGV parts to AZZ, ST/OT, PDC, warranty, and returnable. The Warehouse Supervisor will also coordinate spotter activities to provide maximum on-time delivery of trailers & dollies to customers.
Responsibilities:• Ensures safety training and compliance.• Plans and coordinates all shipping, receiving, and warehouse activities to ensure minimal disruption to operations.• Responsible for training and maintaining proper material shipping, receiving and storage processes.• Identify vendor issues, match purchase orders and check blueprints to material received.• Supervise material handlers to maintain proper material organization & a clutter-free work environment. • Plan storage locations throughout the facility to ensure warehouse inventory control.• Co-Leads plant inventory control initiatives through 5S, PFEP, NCM, & PDR/Scrap procedures.• Co-leads production inventory control with the production inventory control supervisor.• Co-leads weekly activities to minimize and manage excess inventory.• Co-leads plant SC Lean & plant BIQ process with operations team leaders to manage SC MPOU defect analysis. • Provide training to direct team following OSHA rules and GD policies in the use of material handling equipment.• Maintain excellent housekeeping and organization both inside and outside storage locations.• Oversee direct team equipment availability and maintenance.• Utilize ERP Systems to drive improvement throughout the plant.• Ensures compliance with the union contract.• Co-lead annual Physical Inventory.• Other duties as assigned.
Hours for this position are 5 pm - 3:30 am
Requirements:• Education: Degree in Operations Management, Business Administration, Supply Chain, Manufacturing Engineering or related field preferred, or equivalent experience, or combination of experience and education. • Experience: 3 - 8 years of progressive levels of responsibility within Warehouse or Materials Management and/or Manufacturing. • Experience working in a heavy industrial environment that used Lean Manufacturing concepts in daily continuous. improvement activities preferred.• Experienced in multi-plant ERP environment, preferably JDE.• Skills: Excellent communication and people skills.• Organizational, attention to detail and record keeping skills.• Problem solving skills.• Demonstrable leadership capabilities.• Travel: None.
