Our manufacturing client in Newton, IA is seeking a Welding Manager to lead welding operations, training, and process improvement in a large-scale heavy fabrication environment supporting wind tower manufacturing.

This is a high-impact leadership role with visibility across production, quality, and engineering — ideal for someone who enjoys improving processes, developing welders, and driving quality in a safety-focused environment.

What You'll Do

• Lead and supervise welding technicians and weld school operations
• Train, qualify, and certify welders at various skill levels
• Troubleshoot welding processes, equipment, and defects
• Drive welding process improvements for quality and efficiency
• Support customer and third-party welding audits
• Conduct internal welding audits and performance reporting
• Serve as technical subject matter expert on welding procedures
• Investigate root causes and implement corrective actions
• Assist with new welder mentor programs
• Support production welding as needed

What We're Looking For

• AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) — or ability to obtain within one year
• Strong experience with FCAW, SAW, and GMAW
• Working knowledge of AWS D1.1
• Hands-on heavy fabrication experience
• Strong coaching, leadership, and training skills
• Experience with welding process improvement
• 5+ years heavy fabrication experience (or related degree + experience)
