Plant Facilities Manager
We are seeking an experienced Facilities Manager to oversee the day-to-day operation, maintenance, safety, and continuous improvement of a growing precision manufacturing campus in Indianapolis, IN.
This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for ensuring the facilities, building systems, infrastructure, and supporting equipment remain safe, reliable, organized, and ready to support production. The ideal candidate understands that in a high-precision CNC manufacturing environment, facility uptime directly impacts production uptime.
This position will coordinate preventive maintenance, outside contractors, building projects, utilities, safety initiatives, and facility improvements while partnering closely with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, and company leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily operation, maintenance, and overall condition of the manufacturing facility and property
- Develop and manage preventive maintenance programs for facility systems and infrastructure
- Coordinate maintenance and repair of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, compressed air, lighting, fire protection, and other building systems
- Serve as the primary point of contact for facility-related vendors, contractors, service providers, and inspections
- Coordinate repairs and facility projects while minimizing disruption to manufacturing operations
- Support installation, relocation, and commissioning of CNC machines and other manufacturing equipment from a facilities and infrastructure standpoint
- Coordinate electrical, compressed air, ventilation, foundations, rigging, utilities, and other requirements associated with new equipment installations
- Monitor facility systems and proactively identify potential failures, capacity concerns, or maintenance needs
- Manage facility improvement, renovation, expansion, and capital projects from planning through completion
- Maintain organized records for inspections, preventive maintenance, repairs, contractors, permits, and facility projects
- Support workplace safety programs and help ensure compliance with applicable OSHA, environmental, fire, building, and safety requirements
- Coordinate waste disposal, recycling, hazardous material handling, and other environmental or facility-related programs as applicable
- Maintain facility security, access control, emergency systems, and related procedures
- Manage relationships with contractors and suppliers, including obtaining quotes, reviewing scopes of work, scheduling projects, and monitoring performance
- Assist with facility budgets, capital planning, maintenance expenses, and cost-control initiatives
- Maintain appropriate inventories of critical facility supplies, replacement components, and maintenance materials
- Support emergency repairs and facility issues when needed
- Identify opportunities to improve facility reliability, energy efficiency, safety, organization, and operating costs
- Maintain a clean, professional, and well-organized manufacturing environment
- Partner with company leadership to anticipate facility and infrastructure requirements as production capacity grows
Requirements:
- 5+ years of facilities, industrial maintenance, plant maintenance, or related experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Previous experience overseeing a manufacturing facility, machine shop, production plant, or similarly equipment-intensive operation strongly preferred
- Strong working knowledge of industrial electrical, HVAC, plumbing, compressed air, mechanical, and building systems
- Experience coordinating contractors, vendors, equipment installations, and facility projects
- Understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance principles
- Ability to troubleshoot facility issues and determine when internal repair versus outside support is appropriate
- Familiarity with OSHA and general industrial safety requirements
- Experience supporting facility expansions, capital equipment installations, or manufacturing infrastructure projects preferred
- Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Ability to read basic facility drawings, equipment specifications, utility requirements, and technical documentation
- Comfortable working directly on the manufacturing floor and responding to issues as they arise
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with production employees, technical teams, contractors, and senior leadership
- Proactive, hands-on mentality with a strong sense of ownership and urgency
- Experience within CNC machining, aerospace, medical device, defense, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments is a plus
