Weld Engineer II
A well-established manufacturing organization in the central Kentucky is seeking a Weld Engineer II to join its engineering team. Primary Responsibilities
- Support engineering and production teams during new product launches.
- Participate in projects involving new manufacturing processes and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Evaluate new product designs for manufacturability, quality, and cost effectiveness.
- Analyze existing manufacturing processes and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
- Develop manufacturing concepts and process plans for new products.
- Specify, procure, and implement welding, fabrication, and assembly equipment and related documentation.
- Perform manufacturing cost analyses and production capacity evaluations.
- Support robotic welding operations by assisting with process control and optimization.
- Develop and improve fabrication and welding processes to meet production requirements.
- Participate in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities for new product introductions.
- Assist with installation, validation, and launch of new manufacturing processes.
- Ensure compliance with applicable quality and safety standards.
- Conduct failure analysis and support corrective actions on prototype and production components.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering required; Welding Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related discipline preferred.
- Experience in manufacturing engineering is required.
- Knowledge of welding processes and welding procedure development is preferred.
- Experience with process development, APQP, or similar quality planning methodologies is desirable.
- Experience evaluating or implementing manufacturing equipment is a plus.
- Familiarity with CAD software such as AutoCAD or similar design platforms is preferred.
- Experience with tooling and fixture design is beneficial.
- Understanding of GD&T, quality management systems, and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles is preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated with a high level of integrity, accountability, and attention to detail.
