Weld Engineer II

A well-established manufacturing organization in the central Kentucky is seeking a Weld Engineer II to join its engineering team. Primary Responsibilities

  • Support engineering and production teams during new product launches.
  • Participate in projects involving new manufacturing processes and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Evaluate new product designs for manufacturability, quality, and cost effectiveness.
  • Analyze existing manufacturing processes and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Develop manufacturing concepts and process plans for new products.
  • Specify, procure, and implement welding, fabrication, and assembly equipment and related documentation.
  • Perform manufacturing cost analyses and production capacity evaluations.
  • Support robotic welding operations by assisting with process control and optimization.
  • Develop and improve fabrication and welding processes to meet production requirements.
  • Participate in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities for new product introductions.
  • Assist with installation, validation, and launch of new manufacturing processes.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable quality and safety standards.
  • Conduct failure analysis and support corrective actions on prototype and production components.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required; Welding Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Experience in manufacturing engineering is required.
  • Knowledge of welding processes and welding procedure development is preferred.
  • Experience with process development, APQP, or similar quality planning methodologies is desirable.
  • Experience evaluating or implementing manufacturing equipment is a plus.
  • Familiarity with CAD software such as AutoCAD or similar design platforms is preferred.
  • Experience with tooling and fixture design is beneficial.
  • Understanding of GD&T, quality management systems, and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated with a high level of integrity, accountability, and attention to detail.
