This is an excellent opportunity to join a successful, non-automotive manufacturer as the Sr. Controller overseeing a team of established accounting and finance professionals! Daily you will report to the VP of Finance and work closely with the General Manager. Your key responsibilities will include:
 
  • Oversee all core site accounting operations, including general ledger, AP, AR, payroll, fixed assets, and revenue recognition.
  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes to ensure timely and accurate management reporting.
  • Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP, while conducting rigorous variance analysis.
  • Maintain and document accounting policies and procedures to ensure absolute integrity of all financial reporting.
  • Develop and maintain strong internal controls and robust financial governance processes.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations and coordinate directly with external auditors.
  • Support risk management initiatives and closely monitor compliance with internal finance policies.
  • Lead annual site budgeting, cash flow management, and the development of rolling financial forecasts.
  • Support the analysis and investment justification for major capital expenditures (CapEx).
  • Provide financial modeling and operational analysis to support strategic initiatives and department leadership.
  • Partner closely with operations leadership to optimize site costs, drive continuous improvement, and enhance financial performance.
  • Monitor key performance indicators, including labor efficiency, inventory performance, scrap, margin, and productivity.
  • Monitor and analyze working capital performance across inventory, labor, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff while establishing performance expectations and professional development plans.
  • Evaluate and enhance accounting systems, support upcoming ERP implementation, and drive reporting automation initiatives.
 
Qualified candidates should be strategic minded, analytical, hands on, driven, flexible, and have the ability to adapt to changing priorities.  This position requires very limited travel and must be on-site daily; there is not a hybrid or remote schedule being offered.

REQUIREMENTS for the Senior Controller:
1. Bachelor's degree, ideally in a related Accounting or Finance field 
2. Minimum of three years in a similar lead accounting or finance role in manufacturing, ideally in a Plant Controller, Finance Director or Accounting Manager role 
3. Experience supervising others in accounting or finance 
4. Experience leading the month-end and year-end closing
5. Experience leading the budgeting and forecasting processes 
6. Working knowledge of cost accounting principles 
7. Strong financial analysis 
8. Experience with strategic partnerships and projects 
9. Experience working for manufacturers with sales greater than $50M
10 Working knowledge of ERP systems 
11. Strong MS Office, including Microsoft Excel 

Skills preferred but NOT required:
1. International business experience 
2. ERP implementation 
 
Candidates are preferred to be local to the Morristown, TN area; there is not a relocation package available at this time.
