Opportunity
This is not your ordinary DevOps role—every pipeline you design and every service you operate runs at the heart of the nation’s most sensitive environments. Working from a secure site in Cheltenham, you will join a team where trust is paramount and where continuous learning is part of the culture. Your technical decisions will have a direct and visible impact on mission success.
In this role, you will engineer automated pipelines, infrastructure as code, and shared platform services that enable agile feature teams to deliver securely and efficiently. You will work across AWS, Azure, and on-premises systems, blending cloud-native patterns with the discipline required for high-security operations. Your contributions will reduce friction, increase reliability, and let the wider team focus on solving business problems instead of wrestling with deployment toil.
We are looking for an engineer who already holds active DV clearance and brings a strong track record in building and deploying secure products. You thrive in agile settings, whether Scrum or Kanban, and you communicate effectively with senior stakeholders. You combine deep technical curiosity with a practical mindset—you enjoy learning new tools like Terraform or Kubernetes, but you also know how to get things done with what you have. Most importantly, you take ownership and help those around you succeed.
In return, you will receive a competitive salary, flexible hours, a dedicated learning budget, private healthcare, and a pension that grows with you. You will work on projects that few engineers ever get to touch, and you will do so in a supportive team that values collaboration and knowledge sharing. If you are ready to apply your clearance and your skills to a mission that matters, apply today and start a conversation about your next career move.
Non-Negotiables
- You must hold active DV clearance and be willing to work onsite at least four days per week in Cheltenham
- You have proven experience building and deploying secure products using modern technology stacks and design patterns
- You are familiar with AWS and/or Azure concepts and services, and you understand how to leverage cloud capabilities effectively
- You have designed and operated reliable, scalable shared solutions that serve multiple teams or consumers
- You have worked across the full Software Development Lifecycle, from initial planning through production support
- You deliver in agile environments using Scrum or Kanban, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams
- You have experience engaging with senior stakeholders and translating technical requirements into business outcomes
What's In It For You
- You will work on mission-critical projects that directly impact national security and public services
- Flexitime lets you structure your 37.5-hour week around your life, with the expectation of being onsite most days
- A generous personal learning budget covers training, certifications, and conferences to keep your skills sharp
- Private healthcare and a matched pension scheme invest in your long-term wellbeing
- Monthly socials and quarterly team meetups build a strong, collaborative community
- Career growth is accelerated in a fast-moving, meaningful sector where your contributions are valued
Responsibilities
- You will develop, test, deploy, release, operate, and monitor software products across the full development lifecycle
- You will design and manage automated CI/CD pipelines that streamline delivery and enforce security standards
- You will build and operate shared platform services for deployment, operation, and monitoring
- You will create and maintain infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles, ensuring consistency and version control
- You will deploy and operate products in AWS, Azure, and on-premises environments, managing cloud-native and hybrid solutions
- You will support teams in adopting and optimizing shared platform services, acting as a technical enabler
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with GitLab or Jenkins for CI/CD pipeline automation is highly desirable
- Familiarity with container orchestration tools like Kubernetes or Docker will set you apart
- Knowledge of infrastructure provisioning through Terraform or Packer is a strong plus
- Exposure to secrets management with Vault gives you an edge
- Experience with monitoring and observability stacks such as Elastic Stack, Prometheus, or Grafana is welcomed
- A background in serverless architectures or artifact management with Nexus or Artifactory would be beneficial
