Opportunity
Step into a role where your embedded engineering skills fuel real-world innovation. This is not a desk job with abstract deliverables; here, you will conceive, build, and test prototype hardware that operates in demanding undersea environments. The work is tangible, fast-paced, and essential to national security missions.
You will design complex data handling infrastructure on FPGAs and SoCs, implement signal processing algorithms, and integrate your creations into larger electronic platforms. Everything from acoustic communication transceivers to wireless power transfer systems passes through your hands, followed by hands-on lab and field testing to prove performance under real conditions.
We are looking for an engineer who thrives on technical ownership and enjoys wearing multiple hats. You have deep experience with VHDL and C/C++ in Linux, understand digital bus protocols intuitively, and are comfortable troubleshooting hardware on a lab bench. You welcome the challenge of obtaining a DoD security clearance and collaborating directly with innovative colleagues and customers.
Join a compact, high-trust team where your contributions are visible, your ideas matter, and your career grows with every project. Relocation support is provided, and you will have the chance to work from offices in Groton, CT, or Concord, MA. If you are ready to build the future of undersea technology, we want to hear from you. Apply today and let's start the conversation.
Non-Negotiables
- Four or more years of hands-on experience with FPGA development, VHDL programming, and associated design workflows
- Four or more years of experience in C programming for microcontroller or digital signal processor (DSP) development and testing
- Four or more years of experience with C++ programming and compilation in a Linux environment
- A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a closely related field
- Basic understanding of signal processing concepts and experience using MATLAB for data analysis
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense Secret security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship
What's In It For You
- Full relocation assistance is provided, making it easy to join the team in beautiful coastal New England
- Work on cutting-edge, multidisciplinary projects that offer unique growth opportunities and continuous learning
- Enjoy a small-company culture where technical excellence is rewarded and an entrepreneurial spirit is encouraged
- Collaborate directly with colleagues and customers who value innovation, creativity, and your professional input
- Receive a competitive direct-hire package with the stability of a long-term, mission-focused organization
Responsibilities
- Architect and develop complex data handling and processing infrastructure on embedded FPGA and SoC platforms, implementing signal processing algorithms that drive system performance
- Conduct laboratory testing, integration, and debugging of embedded systems within larger electronic assemblies using standard test equipment
- Lead field testing efforts to validate system operation under real-world conditions, gathering data and refining designs based on results
- Provide project leadership by coordinating technical tasks, mentoring junior engineers, and communicating progress to team leads and customers
- Collaborate across disciplines to integrate electrical, mechanical, and software components into complete maritime subsystems
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing and developing systems for underwater acoustic sensors or related maritime applications
- Familiarity with System-on-Chip or System-on-Module workflows and their integration into larger designs
- A history of creating technical content for new product proposals, ideas, or business development initiatives
- Hands-on experience developing userspace drivers in a Linux environment
- Practical experience interfacing with ADCs, DACs, and managing associated clocking and digital communication
- Working knowledge of digital communication protocols such as RS232/422/485, I2C, SPI, and CAN
- Experience with the Xilinx IDE, Vivado, AXI protocol, and custom IP core development
