Bankruptcy Legal Assistant
Our client, a highly regarded Dallas law firm, is seeking an experienced Bankruptcy Legal Assistant to support a dynamic attorney with a sophisticated practice focused on distressed situations, insolvency, and complex restructuring matters. This is an excellent opportunity to work closely with a well-respected practitioner representing debtors, creditors, lenders, trustees, and committees across a wide range of high stakes matters.
This role is ideal for a proactive, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys being deeply involved in complex bankruptcy and litigation workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive legal and administrative support in Chapter 7 & 11 bankruptcy matters
- Prepare, revise, and finalize pleadings, motions, briefs, and correspondence
- Handle ECF filings, PACER research, and state/federal e-filing
- Manage case files, deadlines, and court calendars across multiple matters
- Assist with fee applications, billing support, and expense tracking
- Coordinate hearings, depositions, mediations, and trial logistics
- Draft non-complex correspondence and convert attorney dictation into polished documents
- Maintain and organize files in NetDocs
- Prepare Tables of Contents and Authorities
- Communicate with courts, opposing counsel, and vendors
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a legal assistant within bankruptcy
- Strong working knowledge of bankruptcy procedures and filings
- Experience with BestCase software highly preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe
- Experience with legal billing software (Aderant a plus)
- Exceptional proofreading, organization, and attention to detail
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment
- Professional communication skills and a strong team-oriented mindset
