Title: Director of Operations

Location: Bedford Park, IL

Overview We’re seeking a results-oriented Director of Sales Operations to drive transformational change within a fast-paced perishable food distributor. This position is ideal for someone with a strong sales background who thrives on improving processes, leading teams, and driving revenue growth. The Director of Sales Operations will focus on optimizing sales strategies, streamlining customer interactions, and developing a high-performing sales team to ensure the company remains competitive and positioned for long-term success.

Responsible For

  • Oversee both the sales and warehouse departments, acting as a general manager for the facility. Manage a Warehouse Manager along with a team of account managers and warehouse staff. Build a culture focused on accountability, performance, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and implement sales strategies to increase revenue, expand customer base, and improve customer retention. Collaborate with senior leadership to set realistic and achievable sales goals.
  • Drive process improvements across both sales and warehouse functions by analyzing workflows, identifying inefficiencies, and implementing practical solutions to enhance productivity, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency.
  • Work closely with customer service and marketing teams to ensure seamless customer interactions. Focus on improving the customer experience, from initial contact through order fulfillment.
  • Ensure seamless collaboration between the sales and warehouse teams to guarantee accurate and timely order fulfillment. Focus on streamlining internal processes to improve overall facility performance. Provide feedback and insights from the sales team to help streamline internal processes.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities by analyzing market trends and understanding customer needs. Focus on building long-term relationships with key accounts and developing new sales channels.
  • Assist in integrating new acquisitions and expanding services to new markets. Ensure that sales processes are scalable and adaptable to future growth opportunities.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the effectiveness of sales strategies. Use data-driven insights to adjust approaches and improve results.
  • Provide coaching, training, and mentorship to the sales team. Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and collaboration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, sales management, or a related field (preferred) OR equivalent experience of 7+ years in sales leadership within the meat or perishable food distribution industry.
  • 5+ years of experience in sales management within the meat or perishable food distribution industry.
  • Proven success in leading turnaround efforts and implementing strategies that drive revenue growth.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage diverse teams and develop future leaders.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of customer relationship management (CRM) systems and sales analytics.
