Position Overview
Our client, a key partner in homeland surveillance and border security, is seeking a mission-driven Lead Field Service Representative (FSR) to manage operations, maintenance, and technical oversight of advanced aerostat systems deployed along the Southern U.S. Border. The Lead FSR will supervise a multidisciplinary team and play a critical role in all phases of aerostat lifecycle supportāfrom launch to recovery, maintenance, testing, logistics, and personnel training.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team of Field Service Representatives and technicians across mechanical, electrical/electronic, aerostat, and IT disciplines.
- Coordinate and perform hands-on operations, including aerostat launches, inflight operations, recoveries, inspections, and emergency procedures.
- Oversee maintenance and repair of aerostat systems and associated ground equipment, including hydraulics, avionics, communications, and power generation.
- Troubleshoot complex system issues and develop real-time solutions in high-tempo environments.
- Conduct system diagnostics, testing, calibration, and configuration using specialized and standard test equipment.
- Maintain full compliance with safety, security, and operational standards, including documentation of hardware failures, repairs, and upgrades.
- Train junior technicians and site personnel on proper aerostat operations, procedures, and emergency response protocols.
- Prepare reports, field correspondence, technical documentation, and contribute to engineering change implementation.
- Participate in accident investigations, site surveys, and rapid deployment support as a member of the Critical Response Team.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent plus 2 years of formal technical training (military or civilian).
- Minimum 8 years of relevant hands-on experience supporting aerostat systems or similar military/defense field service operations.
- Proficiency in mechanical/electrical repair, soldering, gas handling, and composite material handling.
- Experience with RF systems, fiber optics, avionics, and mission-critical ground communications systems.
- Demonstrated leadership in multi-skilled technical environments and field deployment.
- Must possess an active DoD Secret Clearance.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen with a valid driverās license.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain favorable adjudication for both CBP Public Trust and Tier 3 Secret clearance.
