Position Overview

Our client—a global leader in the design, manufacture, and lifecycle support of advanced electronic systems for the U.S. Government—is seeking a Director of Business Development to lead growth across Airborne and Intelligence Community programs.

This executive-level role is responsible for driving new business through disciplined capture strategy, customer engagement, and federal pursuit execution. The position reports directly to the Vice President of Business Development and plays a critical role in shaping long-term growth across classified and mission-critical programs.


Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Capture Leadership

  • Own and execute pursuit and capture strategies for new and recompete opportunities within Airborne ISR, Intelligence, and related defense missions
  • Increase probability of win (PWin) through disciplined win strategies, price-to-win analysis, and competitive positioning
  • Lead capture activities from early shaping through proposal award, including customer engagement, teaming strategy, and solution alignment

Customer & Market Engagement

  • Serve as the “Voice of the Customer,” translating mission needs, operational realities, and acquisition drivers into executable business strategies
  • Build and sustain senior-level relationships across the DoD, Intelligence Community, and prime/subcontractor ecosystem
  • Actively shape requirements and influence acquisition strategies aligned to customer priorities

Internal Collaboration & Strategy

  • Partner with engineering, program management, and executive leadership to align solutions with customer mission objectives
  • Support senior leadership in understanding evolving operational missions, funding profiles, and competitive landscapes
  • Contribute to long-range growth strategy and pipeline development across airborne and intelligence portfolios

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (B.S. or B.A.), ideally in a technical discipline; equivalent experience considered
  • 8+ years within the aerospace and defense industry, with progressive responsibility in business development, capture management, engineering, or program management
  • Demonstrated success winning federal and DoD contracts, with a strong record of material wins over the past 5 years
  • Established network and credibility within the Airborne, ISR, and Intelligence Community markets
  • Working knowledge of defense contractor BD and capture processes
  • Active security clearance or ability to obtain one
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%
