Company & Opportunity Background:Specialty supplier of engineered industrial products that serve as critical components of machinery used in various process and bulk material handling industries.Deep knowledge of our niche technical product lines, including experience providing solutions for a wide variety of applications.
Capabilities include CAD modeling, FEA, design/fabrication of custom components and assemblies, the use of proprietary application-specific formulas tospecify product for various customer applications, and managing technical aspects of the Company’s repair function.
 
Looking to add an engineer to the team. The opportunity is structured to allow the new hire to contribute immediately by working closely with the VP ofEngineering to create technical marketing materials (e.g., project case studies) as well as technical training guides to formally document key processes including those used in the Company’s repair function and when designing technical solutions for customers. These responsibilities are designed such that the new hire can immediately contribute to key Company functions while simultaneously learning about the Company’s products with a specific focus on key engineering-related responsibilities. Over time and subject to exceptional performance, the new hirehas the opportunity to become responsible for various engineering functions and eventually lead the Company’s engineering department.
 
Role & Responsibilities:• Support VP of Engineering with all technical requirements related to designing solutions for customers (e.g., CAD modeling, FEA, specifying products for various applications, etc.) and supporting customers with other technical needs (i.e., technical troubleshooting)• Review and study select previous projects with VP of Engineering – create technical marketing materials (e.g., project case studies) as key deliverable for use by Marketing department• Review and study Company inspection and repair procedures with VP of Engineering – create technical training documents (e.g., work instructions and training materials) for use internally• Become responsible for various engineering functions over time and when ready with the opportunity to eventually lead Engineering department s
Candidate Experience, Skills, and Attributes:• Strong mechanical engineering background as demonstrated by completion of relevant coursework and/or other relevant professional experience (additional background in electrical engineering preferred but not required)• Demonstrated practical knowledge of applying mechanical engineering concepts including hands-on experience building/repairing various machines or technical components (e.g., working on vehicles)• Demonstrated experience with CAD modeling (experience performing FEA preferred but not required)• Demonstrated experience with various forms of technical writing including technical case studies, technical training materials, work instructions, etc.• Strong problem solving, critical thinking, and time management skill.• Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work with teammates across various disciplines/departments including Engineering, Marketing, Sales, and Repair• Strong intellectual curiosity, team-focused mindset, and desire to identify and drive improvements to Company systems and processes across the business with a keen focus on engineering-related functions• Candidate has ties to, or demonstrated interest in, Charleston, SC and is interested in living in Charleston for medium to long term
