Design Checker – Mechanical Design

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Design Checker to review mechanical designs for automotive powertrain assembly and test equipment, tooling, and conveyor systems. This role is responsible for checking CAD models and drawings for accuracy, fit, function, tolerances, and compliance with customer specifications and engineering standards. This is a 6–8-month contract assignment with our customer in Auburn Hills, MI. The position could be extended longer than 8 months.    

Responsibilities

• Review 3D models and 2D drawings for accuracy, dimensions, tolerances, and potential interferences.
• Identify design errors and recommend corrections and improvements.
• Verify designs meet engineering standards, customer requirements, and project specifications.
• Support mechanical designers throughout the design process.
• Assist with developing standard design solutions and preliminary station or assembly concepts.

Qualifications

• Experience with Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD required.
• SolidWorks experience is also applicable.
• Strong experience with GD&T.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design, manufacturing methods, and engineering drawings.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with automotive powertrain assembly equipment, tooling, conveyors, or automated machinery is required.
