Comprehensive Therapy Consultants has been partnering with schools for over 40 years, providing exceptional therapy and educational staffing across multiple disciplines. We are seeking a dedicated Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher to join our team and support students in Berkeley County Schools.

Position Overview
The Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher will provide specialized instruction and support to students with hearing impairments, ensuring access to the curriculum and fostering academic, social, and communication skills. This role involves collaborating with classroom teachers, families, and related service providers to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct and consultative instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing in a variety of educational settings.

  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) in collaboration with the IEP team.

  • Adapt and modify instructional materials to meet students’ communication and learning needs.

  • Utilize and teach communication methods including sign language, oral communication, and assistive listening devices as appropriate for each student.

  • Collaborate with general education teachers, interpreters, speech-language pathologists, and other staff to ensure accessibility and inclusion.

  • Monitor and document student progress, maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations.

  • Support families with strategies and resources to assist their child’s learning at home.

  • Stay current on best practices, technologies, and resources for deaf education.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education or a related field.

  • Valid South Carolina teaching certification in Deaf and Hard of Hearing or eligibility for certification.

  • Proficiency in communication methods appropriate for students (e.g., American Sign Language, Signed English, oral approaches).

  • Experience working with students with hearing loss in educational settings preferred.

  • Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills.
