Paralegal – Estate Planning & Tax Law
Location: Charleston, SC (Onsite / Hybrid flexibility)
Status: Full-Time
Compensation: $72,000 - $95,000 + DOE
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Paralegal with a strong background in estate planning to support a growing tax law practice. This role will work closely with attorneys and clients to prepare, coordinate, and execute comprehensive estate plans. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working directly with clients on sensitive financial and legal matters. Experience or exposure to tax strategy, wealth transfer, or capital tax mitigation planning is a strong plus.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives
- Assist attorneys with advanced estate and tax planning strategies
- Gather and analyze client financial information, including assets, liabilities, and ownership structures
- Prepare summaries of estate plans and supporting documentation
- Coordinate execution of estate planning documents and client signing meetings
- Support trust funding and asset transfer processes
- Assist with probate and estate administration matters as needed
- Maintain organized client files and track deadlines to ensure timely completion of work
- Communicate directly with clients, financial advisors, and other professionals
Qualifications
Required
- 5+ years of experience as a paralegal, with a focus on estate planning and/or probate
- Strong knowledge of estate planning documents and processes
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred
- Experience in a tax law firm or working with tax-related matters
- Exposure to capital tax mitigation strategies, wealth planning, or estate tax planning
- Experience with estate planning software (e.g., WealthCounsel or similar)
- Experience with Clio or similar legal practice management systems
- Paralegal certificate or related degree
