An established, physician-led healthcare organization in Central Illinois is seeking a Pediatric Hospitalist to join its dedicated inpatient pediatric service line in Mattoon, Illinois.
This position features an exceptional lifestyle schedule (~5-on / 10-off block model) and delivers high-quality inpatient pediatric care within a supportive community setting. You will provide comprehensive clinical coverage for pediatric inpatients, round on well newborns, and support neonatology services for Level II nursery care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct inpatient medical management for pediatric admissions, nursery care, and Level II neonatology patients
- Conduct routine newborn examinations and manage specialized care for infants requiring neonatology support
- Attend high-risk deliveries and perform neonatal resuscitations as required by hospital and clinical protocols
- Provide pediatric consultations for the Emergency Department and surgical service lines
- Stabilize acute or critically ill pediatric and neonatal patients, coordinating transfers to tertiary pediatric medical centers when appropriate
- Perform daily inpatient rounds, manage admissions and discharges, and ensure clear handoffs to outpatient primary care pediatricians
- Maintain accurate electronic health record documentation and participate in clinical quality and safety initiatives
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited US medical school or international equivalent (MD or DO)
- Successfully completed an ACGME-accredited Pediatrics residency; Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Pediatrics or Pediatric Hospital Medicine
- Active, unrestricted Illinois medical license (or eligible for state licensure prior to start)
- Mandatory Certifications: Active Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required; active DEA registration, Illinois Controlled Substance License (CSR), and PALS
- Strong clinical comfort level with neonatology, Level II nursery protocols, and attending high-risk deliveries
- Available for a January 2027 start date
