Currently looking for a Tax Senior for our client's Fort Wayne, Indiana office. This hybrid position (in office three days/week) is a step toward manager for someone ready to lead engagements and develop junior team members. You will prepare complex individual, business and fiduciary returns and take on first-level review of staff work.
 
Tax Senior Responsibilities:
• Prepare complex federal, state and local returns for individuals (1040), partnerships (1065), S corporations (1120-S), C corporations (1120), trusts and estates (1041), and nonprofits (990)
• Handle high-net-worth individual returns with multi-state filings, K-1 flow-through activity, investment income and passive activity rules
• Prepare tax provisions, estimated payments, extensions and workpapers that support each return
• Perform first-level review of returns and workpapers prepared by staff and interns
• Give clear, constructive review notes and coach junior staff on technical issues and firm procedures
• Help managers plan engagements, manage deadlines and keep work moving through the review queue
• Serve as a day-to-day contact for clients: gather information, answer questions and resolve open items
• Research tax issues and document conclusions in clear memos
• Help respond to IRS and state notices and support tax planning projects
• Use UltraTax CS for return preparation and SurePrep for document intake, workpaper binders and automated data entry
• Work alongside the assurance team on engagements that use CaseWare and GoFileRoom
• Suggest improvements to workflow and use of the firm's technology
 
Tax Senior Profile:
• 5+ years of tax experience in a public accounting (CPA) firm
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
• Master's degree in taxation or accounting, a Plus
• CPA License, or actively pursuing it
• Hands-on experience with UltraTax CS
• Hands-on experience with SurePrep
• Experience with GoFileRoom for document management and workflow, a Plus
• Experience with CaseWare, a Plus
• Proven ability to prepare complex individual and business returns with minimal supervision
• Experience reviewing the work of staff and giving useful feedback
• Strong working knowledge of federal and multi-state tax law
• Experience with high-net-worth individuals, closely held businesses or trusts and estates
• Ability to manage several engagements and deadlines during busy season
• Clear written and verbal communication with clients and colleagues
• Ability to work in the Fort Wayne office three days per week
