Currently seeking an Accounting Analyst to join the accounting team for a client in Markle, IN. This is a newly created position established to support the company's expansion into a second plant. The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a fast-paced, growing, and dynamic startup environment. This individual must be adaptable to frequent changes and evolving processes, capable of taking ownership of new initiatives, and willing to grow with the team over time. The accounting group is small and collaborative, and the right person will fit naturally into that team dynamic. There is also potential for involvement in internal audit and internal controls documentation within the next year as the company continues to mature.
Accounting Analyst Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate books of accounts, ledgers, and general ledgers
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, profit and loss (P&L) statements, and cash flow reports
- Conduct internal audits, assess financial risks, and ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting standards
- Analyze financial data and operations to identify trends, risks, and opportunities to improve profitability and reduce costs
- Advise management on financial matters and provide data-driven insights to support strategic financial decisions
- Prepare and post journal entries and assist with monthly GL account reconciliations
- Assist in the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
- Generate and send customer invoices, process payments, and prepare bank deposits
- Manage AR activities for approximately 10 customers, including statement management and follow-up on slow payments (no bad debt history)
- Reconcile customer accounts, the accounts receivable ledger, and bank statements to ensure accuracy
- Prepare A/R aging reports and contribute to monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
- Post A/R transactions to the general ledger
- Assist with internal and external audits; potential involvement in documenting internal controls as the company prepares for a formal internal controls program
- Support the development and implementation of corporate policies, processes, and procedures
- Assist in other areas and complete special projects and other duties as assigned by management
Accounting Analyst Profile:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting required
- Manufacturing experience a plus
- 5+ years of experience in an accountant or similar role
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
- Experience with journal entries, account reconciliations, and accounts receivable
- Strong attention to detail, self-sufficiency, and ability to manage multiple responsibilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Collaborative team player who fits well in a small, close-knit accounting group
- Willingness to grow with the team and take on evolving responsibilities over time
- CPA designation preferred
- Strong mathematical, accounting, finance, and analytical skills with strong attention to detail
- Proficient in ERP software; NetSuite experience preferred
- Experience in a startup or high-growth company environment a plus
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Willing to travel if needed; Maybe travel of up to 10% to new plant
