Maintenance Technician Level II


Shift Availability:  Day

Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician Level II performs intermediate‑level preventive maintenance and mechanical repair tasks in an industrial processing environment. This role builds on foundational skills by taking on more complex troubleshooting, component replacement, and equipment support responsibilities. The technician works with moderate supervision and is expected to diagnose basic mechanical issues independently.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance, including lubrication, adjustments, and scheduled inspections.
  • Conduct intermediate troubleshooting on mechanical equipment such as conveyors, pumps, motors, and gear systems.
  • Replace mechanical components including belts, bearings, sprockets, chains, hoses, and seals.
  • Assist higher‑level technicians with complex repairs, rebuilds, and system diagnostics.
  • Identify equipment abnormalities and recommend corrective actions.
  • Document all maintenance activities, parts usage, and findings in the CMMS system.
  • Support equipment startups, shutdowns, and changeovers as needed.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, PPE requirements, and sanitation standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Communicate equipment issues clearly to supervisors and senior technicians.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1+ year of mechanical or maintenance experience required; 2+ years preferred.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical systems, rotating equipment, and basic troubleshooting methods.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices (tape measure, calipers, feeler gauges).
  • Ability to read basic diagrams, manuals, and work instructions.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and willingness to learn advanced techniques.

Certifications & Licenses

  • Forklift Certification (preferred)
  • Lockout/Tagout training (required after hire)

Tools & Equipment Used

  • Hand tools and power tools
  • Grease guns and lubrication equipment
  • Basic electrical testing tools (non‑energized checks only)
  • CMMS software
  • Ladders, carts, and material‑handling equipment

Work Environment

Work is performed in a cold, wet, and noisy industrial processing facility. Exposure to moving machinery, cleaning chemicals, and varying temperatures is expected.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift up to 50 lbs frequently
  • Stand and walk for up to 10 hours
  • Bend, kneel, climb, and reach regularly
  • Work in cold, wet, or humid conditions
  • Work on elevated platforms or ladders as needed

Schedule & Overtime

Assigned day shift; overtime, weekends, and extended hours may be required based on production needs.
