Seeking an experienced hands-on Livestock Operations Manager to lead our client's nursery calf and beef operations in the North Manchester, IN area. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with livestock, leading people, solving problems, and making a meaningful impact every day.
 
Livestock Operations Manager Responsibilities:
  • Lead and support daily livestock operations
  • Oversee animal health, welfare, and feeding programs
  • Coordinate schedules and daily work assignments
  • Coach, train, and develop farm employees; team of 6-8 workers, providing direction and support
  • Collect, record, and organize data accurately and efficiently to support research and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Monitor workflow to maintain efficiency, quality, and safety standards
  • Maintain safe, organized, and compliant facilities
  • Communicate with leadership through regular updates and livestock meetings


Livestock Operations Manager
Profile:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, Agriculture, or related field preferred, but not required
  • 5+ years of experience working with livestock, dairy, or beef operations
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience (agriculture, construction, or labor environment a plus)
  • Hands-on leadership style and strong work ethic
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Passion for animal care and team development
  • A positive attitude that fits our family-business culture
  • Ability to accurately record and manage data
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment
  • Previous experience with Standard Operating Procedures & Protocols
  • Knowledge of equipment use, maintenance, and safety protocols
  • Basic computer skills, including experience with spreadsheets or data management software
  • Willingness to work flexible hours if needed
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs. as needed
  • Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in various conditions
  • Capable of standing, walking, and performing manual labor tasks for extended periods
  • Flexibility to meet the needs of a livestock operation
