Payroll Accounting Specialist

We are working with a well-established company in the Berne, Indiana area that is adding a Payroll / Accounting Specialist to their accounting team. What You Will Do:
• Process bi-weekly payroll for a multi-entity, multi-state organization
• Maintain payroll records including new hires, terminations, and pay changes
• Manage garnishments, tax withholdings, and payroll compliance
• Process accounts payable — invoice coding, payment runs, and vendor maintenance
• Prepare and post journal entries and assist with month-end close
• Reconcile payroll and AP accounts and track benefit-related deductions
• Coordinate with HR on time card processing and payroll inquiries
What We're Looking For:
• Hands-on payroll processing experience, preferably in a high-volume or multi-entity environment
• Familiarity with Paychex a plus; strong aptitude for learning new systems
• Accounts payable experience alongside payroll is a bonus
• Solid Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
• Self-starter who takes initiative and follows through without constant direction
• Dependable, punctual, and committed to being present and engaged
• Collaborative team player with strong communication skills
• Associate's degree preferred; equivalent experience will be considered
