Engineering Manager
We are seeking a highly motivated and hands-on Engineering Manager to lead the engineering function and drive product development for a well-respected manufacturer in Valparaiso IN. Reporting directly to the President, the Engineering Manager will have significant responsibility and autonomy in determining how engineering projects are approached, prioritized, and executed, and will spend a large portion of their time working hands-on directly on mechanical design, product improvements, prototyping, testing, and new product development.
What you'll do:
- Lead a small engineering team while staying hands-on with mechanical design, prototyping, and testing
- Own product development from concept through launch, using 3D CAD
- Drive continuous improvement across performance, reliability, and manufacturability
- Manage engineering documentation, BOMs, drawings, and revision control
- Partner cross-functionally with quality, purchasing, sales, and service
- Evaluate new technologies and materials to keep the product line ahead of the curve
- Mentor and develop engineering talent while maintaining accountability
What you need:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred)
- 5+ years of mechanical design/product development experience
- Strong 3D CAD skills and a track record of taking products from concept to production
- Familiarity with DFMA, FMEA, DOE, and structured engineering documentation
- Comfort working independently, managing multiple priorities, and driving projects forward with limited direction
- Experience coordinating with outside manufacturers or engineering firms is a plus
