We are seeking an experienced Mill Production Supervisor II to oversee daily mill operations, supervise production employees, and drive continuous improvement initiatives in a lumber manufacturing and remanufacturing environment. This role is responsible for production scheduling, equipment oversight, maintenance coordination, safety compliance, and team development.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with experience in lumber manufacturing, pallet production, or remanufacturing operations who can build high-performing teams while maximizing efficiency, productivity, and safety.

Key Responsibilities

Production Management

  • Supervise daily mill production operations and ensure production goals are achieved.
  • Develop and manage production schedules to meet customer demand and operational objectives.
  • Monitor workflow and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and throughput.
  • Coordinate production activities to minimize downtime and maximize output.

Equipment Operations

  • Operate and oversee production equipment, including:
  • Scragg Operator
  • Edger Operator
  • Ensure equipment is operated safely and efficiently.
  • Schedule and coordinate routine maintenance activities to reduce equipment failures and downtime.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, train, and mentor production employees.
  • Build and develop a strong production team from the ground up.
  • Delegate responsibilities and ensure accountability throughout the department.
  • Promote teamwork, communication, and employee engagement.

Safety & Quality

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized workplace.
  • Enforce all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Monitor product quality and ensure production standards are consistently met.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure operational compliance.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve productivity.
  • Utilize critical thinking and problem-solving skills to address operational challenges.
  • Recommend process improvements that support efficiency, quality, and profitability.

Qualifications

  • Experience in lumber manufacturing, remanufacturing, or pallet production required.
  • Previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting required.
  • Experience operating Scragg and Edger equipment preferred.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team-building skills.
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and results-oriented.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to take direction, follow through on assignments, and lead by example.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift between 15 and 45 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work in an industrial environment for extended periods.
  • Ability to work a minimum of 8 hours per day.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed.
