Banquet Manager
The Banquet Manager is responsible for ensuring that every event runs smoothly from preparation through execution. This role includes event coordination, staff leadership, operational organization, and maintaining the standard of service and presentation. The manager must also be able to support operational roles during events including service, bartending support, or kitchen support.
Core Event Responsibilities
• Overseeing the event alongside the host
• Printing event menus
• Conducting pre-shift meetings
• Setting up the event space
• Managing the breakdown of the event space
• Packing materials for offsite events
• Counting and distributing cash tips
• Counting any cash sales and preparing them for deposit
Leadership & Team Support
• Support service when needed
• Provide bartending support
• Assist kitchen or food running
• Help with setup and breakdown
• Ensure guest service standards are maintained
Event System & Menu Knowledge
• Know how to add events into TPP (Total Party Planner)
• Update event information when necessary
• Review event details in TPP before the event week
• Understand menu offerings
• Recommend menu options to guests
• Conduct event consultations on-site or off-site
Weekly Planning Process
• Every Monday review all scheduled events
• Print all events for the week
• Review event notes and timelines
• Prepare menus and event tags in Canva
• Confirm logistics and materials
Scheduling & Staff Management
• Post staff schedules 1–2 weeks in advance
• Adjust schedules as events are added
• Ensure proper staffing for each event
Event Logistics & Materials
• Verify plates, silverware, glassware, and disposables
• Confirm rentals and specialty equipment
• Confirm indoor or outdoor setup needs
• Ensure materials are verified before event week
Design & Decoration Responsibilities
• Designing special menus or oversized signage is handled separately
• Fresh flower arrangements, backdrops, and decorative installations are handled by the designer or planner
• The manager must coordinate with the designer or planner on site
Basic Event Setup Standards
• Set plateware, silverware, glassware, and napkins • Place menus when applicable
• Ensure proper table and chair placement
Room Setup Standards
• Rooms must remain event-ready at all times
• Reset rooms after every event
• If there is no event scheduled, the room must still remain fully set
• Rooms should always appear prepared for an event
Staff Training Responsibilities
• Train staff on event setup standards
• Train staff on guest service expectations
• Train staff on event breakdown procedures
• Train staff on offsite event preparation
Training Materials
• Use operations guides
• Use event setup diagrams
• Review service standards
• Provide hands-on event training
• Ensure employees understand their responsibilities before events
Dress Code
• Business casual and upscale appearance
• Clean professional attire
• Neutral or black clothing
• Well-groomed presentation
