What they’re looking for:
•Completion of accredited Registered Nurse program or Bachelor’s Degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics.
•Registered Dietitian in good standing, certified in the State of Washington and the national CDR for Dietitians.
•Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist certification preferred, but not required.
•Two to five years of nutrition and diabetes clinical experience, ideally with experience in patient care and program management.
•Experience in teaching to a diverse population and using translation services.
•Certified Diabetes Educator certification to be obtained within twelve (12) months of hire.
•Intermediate computer skills. Epic Experience preferred.
•Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (HCP) level to be completed within six (6) months of hire.
Hours and compensation potential:
•Position is full time, 8am-4:30pm
•Range is between $89K-$111K depending on experience. Additional shift diffs as well.
•Full benefits package including relocation assistance(5K).
What you’ll be doing:
•The Nutrition & Diabetes Education Coordinator is the lead educator for the Medical Nutrition Therapy and Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support (DSMES) programs.
•This position is responsible for overseeing program content, ensuring compliance with Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists (ADCES) standards for recognition, monitoring program and patient data, and communicating/coordinating with the education team.
•The Nutrition & Diabetes Education Coordinator is designated on record with the ADCES and the primary contact for ADCES.
•Reviews and maintains all nutrition and diabetes curriculum in compliance with ADCES standards for recognition and Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
•Provides input and standards in formulating policy and procedures for the organization.
•Coordinates and communicates with departments to deliver education and update content as needed.
•Works with Rehabilitation Services Director to establish program objectives and budgetary needs, and troubleshoots problems as needed.
•Conducts patient assessments, 1:1 education, group education and follow-up for nutrition and diabetes patients, following the ADCES standards for recognition.
•Works with providers to coordinate medical and personal management of the patient.
•Maintains required patient data for program monitoring and for ADCES audit-readiness.
•Collects patient-participant feedback and makes or recommends program adjustments as necessary. Conducts Continuous Quality Improvement Plans, collects data, and reports back to ADCES at annual review.
•Performs other reasonable, position-related tasks as requested by management.
•Participates in department meetings and/or across the organization as applicable.
•May provide education to inpatients of as needed/requested.
•Maintains a minimum of 15 CEU hours annually of Diabetes pertinent professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations to maintain ADCES accreditation program requirements. Ensures professional growth and development in field of expertise.
•Updates and/or writes new handouts and educational materials as needed.
•Serves as a nutrition and diabetes resource for the community.
