Assistant Project Manager – Preconstruction & Desi
Build Your Future in Commercial Construction
Are you ready to take the next step in your construction career? We're partnering with a respected commercial design-build firm seeking an Assistant Project Manager who wants more than just one piece of the construction process.
This is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience across estimating, preconstruction, design coordination, and project management while working alongside experienced industry professionals on commercial projects ranging from $5M-$50M throughout Massachusetts.
If you're looking for a role that offers mentorship, meaningful responsibility, and a clear path to becoming a Project Manager, we'd love to hear from you.
What You'll Do
You'll work alongside senior Project Managers and become involved in every phase of commercial construction projects—from early planning and budgeting through project completion.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist with all phases of commercial construction projects from conceptual budgeting through project turnover
- Review drawings, specifications, and project documents to prepare quantity takeoffs and cost estimates
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, owners, consultants, and project teams throughout design and construction
- Assist with project programming and design coordination
- Solicit, evaluate, and compare subcontractor and supplier proposals
- Develop and maintain project budgets during the design process
- Prepare bid packages, scope comparisons, and cost analyses
- Support subcontractor buyout and transition projects into construction
- Build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and design partners
- Participate in project closeout and post-project reviews to continuously improve future projects
- Promote a strong culture of safety and quality
What Makes This Opportunity Different
Unlike many Assistant Project Manager roles, this position provides exposure across multiple areas of the business.
You'll spend time supporting:
- Preconstruction & Estimating
- Design Coordination
- Project Management

Rather than being limited to one function, you'll develop a well-rounded skill set that prepares you for the next step in your career.
You'll also work directly with experienced Project Managers who are invested in your development and will gradually increase your responsibilities as you become familiar with the company's clients, projects, and processes.
