Field Workforce & Safety Manager

Position Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Field Workforce & Safety Manager to lead workforce development, safety initiatives, field training, and performance management across a growing team of electricians, apprentices, foremen, and field leaders.

This individual will serve as a critical link between field operations and executive leadership by ensuring employees are properly trained, working safely, following company standards, and continuously developing professionally.

The ideal candidate is an experienced electrical professional with a strong background in workforce development, safety leadership, field operations, and employee development. This role requires a significant presence in the field, frequent jobsite visits, and a passion for mentoring the next generation of electrical leaders.

This position reports directly to executive leadership and partners closely with project managers, foremen, and field personnel across multiple states.

Key Responsibilities

Workforce Leadership & Personnel Management

  • Oversee the development, performance, and engagement of a large field workforce.

  • Assist with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and workforce planning.

  • Conduct employee evaluations and performance reviews.

  • Manage disciplinary actions and performance improvement plans as needed.

  • Identify and develop future foremen, lead electricians, and field leaders.

  • Assist with workforce forecasting and manpower planning.

  • Collaborate with project managers to understand staffing needs and upcoming labor demands.

Training & Workforce Development

  • Develop and manage apprenticeship and workforce development programs.

  • Create career progression pathways from Apprentice through Foreman.

  • Coordinate technical training, leadership development, and continuing education.

  • Track employee progress and identify training opportunities.

  • Develop future leaders within the organization.

  • Monitor field performance and recommend training initiatives based on observed trends.

Safety Leadership

  • Lead company-wide electrical safety initiatives.

  • Manage and enhance safety training programs.

  • Conduct routine safety audits and jobsite inspections.

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, and company safety policies.

  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety concerns.

  • Facilitate toolbox talks and ongoing safety meetings.

  • Foster and reinforce a proactive safety culture throughout the organization.

Field Operations Support

  • Visit approximately 10–20 active jobsites per week.

  • Serve as a field operations and safety resource for foremen and project managers.

  • Observe installation practices and provide coaching, mentorship, and guidance.

  • Identify operational inefficiencies and recommend process improvements.

  • Support field leaders with problem-solving and implementation of best practices.

  • Monitor workforce productivity and performance trends.

Standard Operating Procedures & Quality Control

  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for common installation methods and field practices.

  • Standardize procedures for:

    • Wire pulling

    • EV charger installations

    • Service upgrades

    • Commercial electrical installations

    • Safety procedures

    • Equipment operation

  • Assist in establishing quality standards across all field operations.

  • Promote consistency in workmanship throughout the organization.

Qualifications

Required

  • Valid Electrical License (Journeyman or Master Electrician preferred).

  • OSHA 30 Certification.

  • NFPA 70E Certification.

  • Minimum of 10 years of electrical industry experience.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in workforce development, safety management, field leadership, or a related leadership role.

  • Strong understanding of electrical construction practices and field operations.

  • Demonstrated experience developing training programs and mentoring field personnel.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and coaching skills.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.

Preferred

  • Experience leading large electrical field teams.

  • Experience creating apprenticeship or workforce development programs.

  • Experience implementing company-wide safety initiatives.

  • Knowledge of multi-state electrical operations and compliance requirements.

  • First Aid/CPR Certification.

  • OSHA Authorized Trainer Certification.

Work Environment & Travel

  • Extensive travel to active jobsites throughout the company's service territory.

  • Expected to visit approximately 10–20 jobsites each week.

  • Regular interaction with field employees, foremen, project managers, and executive leadership.

  • Combination of field and office responsibilities.
